Margaret McDonald, Director/Piano
Margaret has a Bachelor of Music Education from Greensboro College and a Masters of Music Education from UNCG.  She taught elementary music in the Guilford County Schools retiring in 2001.  At that time, she opened the Music Academy at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church where she was Youth Choir Director. Margaret serves as president of the High Point Piano Teachers Association and is active in the Music Teachers National Association.

 

Dr. Harold Andrews, Pipe Organ
Dr. Andrews is the organist and choirmaster at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.  He holds B.M. and M.M. degrees in organ from the Oberlin Conservatory and a D.M.A. from Boston University.  He is Emeritus Professor of Organ and Church Music at Greensboro College, and has played organ recitals at Duke University, UNC-Greensboro, Bennett College, Salem College, and numerous churches in the area.

 

Susan Hahn, Voice
Susan Hahn graduated from Elon University with a Music Education degree, vocal studies concentration.  Susan teaches music in the Guilford County schools and is also a private voice teacher.  Susan brings a great deal of experience, with years of student teaching, observing, and private teaching.

 

Mike Connors, Classical Guitar
Mike holds a Masters in Guitar Performance from the University of South Carolina. He has also studied guitar in Spain and Quebec. Mike teaches guitar to students at Penn-Griffin School for the Arts in High Point. His students have earned honors, awards, and scholarships. Mike has been a member of our staff since 2003.

 

Dr. Yong Im Lee Federle, Piano
Yong Im completed her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Indiana University, her Masters in Piano Performance at the Longy School of Music in Maine, and her Doctorate in Musical Arts from UNCG. Born in South Korea and raised in Chile, she is fluent in Spanish as well as other languages.  Dr. Federle has been selected as a Piedmont Artist for 2010-2011 and will give a recital in the spring. She was on the faculty of the UNCG Summer Music Camp, July 2010.

 

Mun Soo Kim, Piano
Mun Soo earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Women’s University inSouth Korea and her Master’s in Piano Performance from Illinois State University.  In December 2010, Mun Soo will receive her Doctorate of Musical Arts from UNCG.  She is an experienced instructor of piano, and has received many honors and awards.

 

Sara Soltau, Violin
Sara is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor in Music Performance, Violin.  She is currently working towards her Masters Degree in Violin Performance at UNCG.  Sara is an experienced teacher as well as an outstanding performer and welcomes new students to her studio.

 

Lindsey Fowler, Viola and Violin
Lindsey graduated from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance and has earned her Master’s of Music in Viola Performance from UNCG. She taught elementary music in the Caswell County Schools and began an after-school string program for under achieving students. For the past two years, Lindsey has been an outstanding string teacher at the Academy.

 

Gayle Masarie, Cello
Gayle is a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music and received her Masters of Music from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.  A Suzuki specialist, Gayle trained eleven summers at the Interlochen Music Camp, as well as three summers at the Aspen Music Festival.  She is a former member of the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and currently serves as the associate principal cello for the Winston-Salem Orchestra.  Gayle is an experienced teacher having taught all levels from beginner through college.
