Performance Opportunities

Performance is an important part of the SMMA experience. Students are encouraged to share their talents and celebrate their progress through recitals, competitions, festivals, and other performance opportunities. Whether a student is preparing for advanced musical study or simply pursuing a lifelong love of music, SMMA provides a supportive environment in which every musician can grow. Students are encouraged to participate in the SMMA recitals, which a held at the end of the fall and spring semesters.

Piano students have the opportunity to participate in the North Carolina Music Teachers Association district and state contest-festivals. Students who earn superior ratings will perform in the honors recital at the North Carolina Music Teachers' Convention each October.

Advanced piano students are encouraged to participate in the UNCSA Summer Piano Intensive program.

Violin, Cello, and Flute students are encouraged to try out for the Greensboro Youth Symphony Orchestra and Winston-Salem Youth Symphony Orchestras.
